Articles of association of the non-profit BUXUS STIFTUNG GmbH

Preamble

In all cultures

…the box tree has fascinated people with its constant growth. Its graceful branches with permanently green leaves continue to grow, even when man tries to mould it into all kinds of shapes. Its longevity and resilience are impressive. But even a boxwood withers if it no longer receives water. Nature and man are dependent on each other, that is our fate. The BUXUS STIFTUNG transfers this image from nature to the groundbreaking fates of people in the 20th and 21st centuries.

Object of society

(1) The BUXUS STIFTUNG pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes within the meaning of the “tax-privileged purposes” section of the German Fiscal Code (AO). The purposes of the organisation are the promotion of science and research, as well as education and upbringing.

(2) The organisation researches and promotes the prerequisites for social coexistence based on independence, courage and civil courage. It is concerned with a (self-)conscious understanding of history, humanity and contemporary life.

This can best be “conveyed” through the development of “role model stories” and biographies of courageous and courageous people, i.e. through exemplary life practice.

History is not limited to depicting the past and the diversity of human possibilities. Rather, “writing history” means making small and large decisions, in the past, in the present and in the future. Do I look or do I look away? Do I join in or do I make my own decision?

People also need “water to grow” – in other words, help and support. This is why the foundation researches, networks and promotes resource-orientated projects in the fields of education and art.

The long-lasting and resilient boxwood – BUXUS – emphasises the importance of resource orientation and sustainability as the foundation for a fairer and more humane society.

The foundation’s work focuses in particular on initiatives with a high level of individual activity, such as workshops for own research, design and application for historical-scientific, media and artistic activities, as well as projects that contribute to social revitalisation in public spaces and active political participation in the sense of a fair balance of interests.

Methodologically, the BUXUS STIFTUNG pursues a consistently resource-orientated approach.

In particular, it promotes: – innovative workshops and exhibitions, – new forms of participation that help to promote, appropriate and share positive human skills, – mediation and networking between civil society actors and political actors that contribute to safeguarding the humanity of our legal system and the inviolability of human dignity, – development processes that help to promote a creative and socially active society.

(3) The purpose of the foundation is realised through

(3.1) – scientific research and monitoring of scientific research projects, (3.2) – development, promotion and dissemination of exemplary life practice (“role model history” and “biographies”), (3.3) – education and further training and (3.4) – public relations work.

3.2. and 3.3. are realised through:

– organisation of historical workshops – organisation of media education workshops – seminars and lectures – organisation of artist workshops
