Historical research

Historical research into crimes and the motives of perpetrators contributes to a better understanding and explanation of the causes of wars and the most serious crimes against humanity. At the same time, it reminds us of the countless victims and their individual suffering.

The BUXUS FOUNDATION promotes historical research and remembrance as resistance. It is concerned with research into positive human forces. Our approach is that remembering violence and terror, the destructive forces in our history, is not enough. We see the survivors’ “Never again!” as an invitation to explore the often risky and certainly not always successful resistance against injustice and human rights violations in order to draw conclusions for our own actions.

Project funding

After the century of catastrophes, with two world wars, genocides and terrorist attacks, the 21st century is becoming the century of survivors and their resistance. Against this backdrop, the BUXUS FOUNDATION supports projects that explore cultures of remembrance worldwide and the survival stories of people who maintain a human attitude even under extreme conditions.
